Board of Directors Seeks a treasurer
Looking for a CPA to serve on our non-profit board as Treasurer. To start September 2023 until June 2025, with the potential to continue if elected for a further term of 2 years.
Meeting approximately 9 times a year, monthly and mostly virtually. Meetings, when in-person are held in central Toronto.
Skills:

CPA
-
5 years accounting, finance work experience

Familiarity with QuickBooks Online

Previous board experience an asset. Familiarity with board governance of not-for-profit charities preferred
Expectations:
The Treasurer’s primary responsibility is to work with the Executive Director to ensure that the organization meets all fiscal responsibilities, remains financially stable, and develops best practices in all areas of finance. In addition to this, it is expected that the Treasurer will:

Believe in Extend-A-Family’s vision, mission, and values.

Actively participate in Executive Committee and board meetings.

Attend two Extend-A-Family events annually.

Read materials provided prior to meetings.

Work with the Executive Director and Office Manager to establish an annual budget and continually improve reporting practices.

Review financial statements in advance of distribution for each board meeting.

Assist as required with annual audit.

Advise the Executive Director and/or Office Manager as needed.

Attend approx. 9 board meetings, and AGM, 2 hours each.
It is anticipated that this will be a time commitment of 4 to 6 hours per month.
