Statement of Solidarity

We, at Extend-A-Family, recognize that racism and discrimination are prevalent in our neighbourhoods and our globe as a whole, especially for those in marginalized groups including Indigenous and Black communities. We understand that we hold a responsibility to respect diverse life experiences of the families and community partners we work with to ensure all voices are valued and heard. We understand the importance of striving to ensure that our work is contributing to ending racism and discrimination through continuous learning, thoughtful reflection, creating a safe place for open dialogue, and the appreciation of being called out or in, when there is room for growth. To keep our support relevant and available for all to access, we will continue to seek out learning opportunities and strive to work in meaningful partnership with Black, Indigenous, and marginalized community members. Our hope is that our continued learning and work will lead us toward true representation, diversity, and inclusion.
